Eric Hollifield’s life is a story of perseverance, passion, and achievement in athletics, academics, and leadership. Born in Marion, North Carolina, he developed a love for sports at an early age, excelling in baseball and football at McDowell High School. His commitment to athletic excellence continued at Appalachian State University, where he became a nationally recognized powerlifter, setting records and earning a place among the top competitors in the country.
Beyond his personal achievements, Eric has been a dedicated advocate for student-athletes, serving on the Appalachian State Athletic Foundation Board, including as President and later as President Emeritus. His competitive drive extended into cycling, where he earned multiple accolades, including the title of State of Georgia Individual Time Trial Champion and a victory in the grueling Assault on Mt. Mitchell race.
Above all, Eric values family, mentorship, and the pursuit of excellence. Married for over two decades, he and his wife, Jennifer, have raised two accomplished children, Nicholas and Lauren, who continue his legacy of dedication and achievement in sports.
